Leaders as Coaches Workshop
Leaders as Coaches is a one-day in-house workshop from Archetype Leadership + Teams that teaches managers and leaders in New Zealand organisations to coach their people.
Leaders learn to help people think for themselves and build their skills and confidence, with guidance, support and challenge.
Why a coaching leadership style matters
In a world with a high pace of change, leadership based on oversight and past experience often falls short. The leaders who get the most from their people help them work things out for themselves. That is a coaching leadership style, and it can be learned.

Frequently asked questions
What does leaders as coaches mean?
Leaders as coaches is an approach in which managers coach their people rather than only directing them, so people work things out for themselves and build their skills. A leaders as coaches programme builds that capability, so development continues day to day after any formal programme ends.
What is the difference between coaching and mentoring?
Mentoring passes on the mentor's experience and advice. Coaching helps the other person think through their own situation and decide what to do, using questions, listening and challenge.
What is a coaching leadership style?
A coaching leadership style is one where the leader helps people find their own answers through questions, listening and challenge, rather than telling them what to do. Leaders still direct when the situation calls for it; the skill is knowing when to coach and when to direct.
What is the GROW model, and how is TGROW different?
GROW is a widely used coaching framework: Goal, Reality, Options and Way forward. TGROW adds Topic at the start, so the conversation first agrees what it is about. The workshop teaches TGROW: Topic, Goal, Reality, Options and Wrap-up.
